Project Description

The Belterra site is approximately 10 acres and is located within a 15 minute walk of the village of Snug Cove and ferry terminal on Bowen Island.

The site is sloping with some steep sections and a combination of forest and open meadow with a year round creek crossing the south portion of the property. There are beautiful views to the mountains across Howe Sound and an eastern & southern exposure.

Armac Construction has owned the property for 18 years and has always wanted to be part of creating an interesting, cohesive, beautiful and compact community on the site. The goal is to rezone the property to allow for an affordable, socially and environmentally sustainable development that will meet objectives of the Bowen Island Official Community Plan by providing housing for people of differing economic circumstances and requirements. We believe the cohousing model is the best form of development to achieve this goal.

Services

CDC provided services to support the land owner to have Belterra Cohousing included within the Bowen Island Official Community Plan and begin to build a group.
