Cranberry Commons was awarded the City of Burnaby 2002 Environment Award for for their outstanding environmental achievements in planning and development. Recycled building materials, alternative energies (solar panels), water conservation, storm water management, and other sustainable features were included in the design. The award noted the socially sustainable aspects of the cohousing community as well (car sharing, bulk purchasing, consensus decision making).
